What is Mental Health?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act in every step of life. Mental health is important at every stage of life.

According to the WHO ui, however, mental health is “a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.”

What are mental disorders?

Mental disorder are serious conditions which can affect our thinking, mood, and behavior. It may be occasional or long-lasting.People with mental disorders can get better, and many of them recover completely.

Why is mental health important?

Mental health is important because it can help us to:

  • Cope with the stresses of life
  • Be physically healthy
  • Have good relationships
  • Make meaningful contributions to our community

 Mental health can affect our physical health. For example, mental disorders can raise the risk for physical health problems such as stroke , diabetes, and heart disease. 

Anyone can experience mental or emotional health problems — and over a lifetime, many of us will.These tips can help us- 

1.Face-to-face conversation with good people.

2.Yoga, mindfulness, meditation and deep breathing can help reduce overall levels of stress.

3.Foods include fatty fish rich in omega-3s, nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews and peanuts), avocados, beans, leafy greens and fresh fruits.

4. Sleep has a huge effect on mental health. When we get enough sleep, it is easier to cope with stress, handle problems, concentrate, think positively and remember things.

5.We all need to take time to slow down and relax. It is a big part of managing stress and enjoying our lives.
